Dr. Ryan DeBlis

Dr. Ryan DeBlis

Time to meet the staff at New West Sports Medicine!!

First up is Dr. Ryan DeBlis. Dr. DeBlis joined New West Sports Medicine in August of 2018. He did his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and then did a Foot and Ankle fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery (which, BTW, is ranked #1 by US News and World Report for orthopedic surgery in the entire United States!). Dr. DeBlis practiced at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney from 2015-2018 before joining New West.

Dr DeBlis is highly skilled in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery as well as hip and knee replacement. He was one of the first physicians in Kearney to utilize the Mako robotic machine to assist in joint replacement surgeries. This is a state of the art advancement in doing total joints and is not available in many hospitals in the area. Coach Nick Saban from the University of Alabama recently had his hip replaced with the assitance of a robot.

This from the University of Alabama athletic department regarding Coach Saban’s surgery:

"Coach Saban underwent successful robotic assisted right hip replacement surgery this afternoon with our hip specialist, Dr. Benton Emblom and the team at Andrews Sports Medicine," Cain said. "Coach is resting comfortably and we anticipate a full recovery. He should be able to return to work in the very near future, and we'll have him back out on the golf course, with hopefully a few more yards off the tee, as soon as possible."

Dr DeBlis loves his patients and goes the extra mile to ensure that they get great care and a great outcome. He focuses on a holistic approach that considers the total needs of his patients – they are not “chart numbers” or “diseases” – but people who deserve respect and his full attention – and they get both.

In his spare time, Dr. DeBlis likes to fly. He enjoys hockey and has become a Big Red football fan.

Dr. DeBlis sees a wide range of patients – this young lady is a very talented college track athlete and came to see Dr. DeBlis for a disabling foot condition. He accurately diagnosed her problem and she is back participating.
